RPM 2024 – Palanavra (Skeletal Mix)

Hey everyone! We’re cutting right under the wire here, but we’ve managed to make it to the finish line with this years RPM Project, Palanavra! Now as I’ve mentioned before, this is definitely not the final version of this album, this is just what we’ve been able to get finished in the last month. And I was honestly hoping to get more stuff done, but due to some outside influences taking up more of my personal time than I had hoped (like getting sick after doing a single songs worth of demo vocals), this is what we’ve been able to come up with. Not to say I’m not proud of what this amounts to, I just know things could have gone a bit smoother in the long run. But without further ado, take a listen to the skeletal version of Palanavra in the Bandcamp player included!

Over the next few months I’ll be doing a fair bit more to this album, adding and re-recording some parts (especially the vocals, since I’m never happy with my own vocals and sadly was also only able to get demos down for one song before falling victim to a bit of an illness), doing a much deeper mix and more detailed master, and actually create some proper artwork for it.

Musically speaking however, I'm very happy with how the compositions have come out, with all the songs intertwining to create a cohesive feel. The mix itself was done in pretty much a day, working from the top down to narrow down a decent overall sound that remains consistent from one tune to the next. I can't wait to really dive in to the mixing stage properly and really get a shine out of the songs. And once more of the songs have had vocals applied to them the underlying story might come to light a bit more and really illuminate the entire concept. I know I've been jumping around exactly what the story is and avoiding any details, but, you know, one does not openly discuss the horrors that exist beyond the reaches of our realities.

To celebrate the end of the RPM Project I also decided to do up a little playthrough video of the first song off the album, Auroraborus. Like many songs off this album it's playing around with the 11/4 time signature I've lately been cursed with. Seriously, the last 4 or 5 times I've tried to create some brand new music, it keeps coming out in 11/4 time. It's starting to get annoying. Expect to hear that curse throughout the album, as it ends up being a regular motif to this whole thing. This song is also the least likely to undergo any serious changes between now and the official release of the finished product, so I feel much more confident letting that one go into the wild as is. You can check that video out below!

Now that everything's been released and all that jazz, I think I'm gonna go and take a bit of a rest. Try and sleep this weird cold/flu thing going on, and then perhaps next week we'll dive into the deep mix. In the meantime, feel free to hit up the Official YouTube Channel and even the Bandcamp Page to keep updated on all the new things!
