Nine Inch Nails – The Becoming | FULL COVER

Hey everyone! We’re a little late getting this video out this week, but this one needed a little extra work to really make it something. See, this weekend is the 30th anniversary of one of my favourite albums of all time, The Downward Spiral by Nine Inch Nails. This one has played a large role in my life, and I wanted to celebrate it a bit by doing a full cover of The Becoming!

Now I’m gonna say it right away: I had to tune the shit out of my vocals for this one. I am not a singer, but this song deserved an actual vocal performance of some kind. And since I was the one doing the vocals, it also meant this song was gonna need Melodyne. Just being honest, not gonna just lie and be all like, “oh look I can also sing.” Because no, not really. Not yet anyways.Maybe in a year or so I’ll be able to say I suck less at it at least. But yeah, part of why this video took so long was the mind-numbing process of vocal tuning. I am my own worst enemy at times.

Anyways, we’re rocking a pair of KORG devices on this track, the Drumlogue and Monologue making up a good portion of the rhythm section. Been meaning to break these bad boys out more often, and this seemed like the perfect chance to do just so. On top of that we’re also doing the regular guitar and bass thing, with a fun little improvised solo after the chorus. At least, I think you can call it a chorus. It’s not a exactly what one would call a conventional song, and I guess it doesn’t really have a chorus now that I think about it. Oh well.

Anyways, I’m keeping this post kinda short, because I’m bloody exhausted after pushing this video out the door, and have very limited time to get myself back on a regular schedule here. If ya dig the video then as always head over to the YouTube Channel and subscribe to keep updated on all the new things!
