Steve Vai – Building The Church | GUITAR COVER

Hey everyone! It’s been a busy few weeks working on the RPM project, but I thought it would be a good idea to take a bit of a break from that stuff while also putting the chops to the test. So for today’s cover we’ve got a song that I’ve been trying to learn for quite literally years. Coming from the wonderful mind of Steve Vai, we’re ripping through Building The Church!

I’m not joking when I say this song has taken years to learn. Well, I’ve learned almost the whole song multiple times over the years, but that god damn infernal overhand tapping solo has always been an insurmountable barrier. But no more! It literally took weeks to get that solo up to speed, and while there are some occasional flubs in this video, it’s the result of almost 6 hours of recording. And I’m bloody happy with the result, regardless of the occasional non-note that snuck in during one of the most difficult guitar solos of all time. I can live with it.

Anyways, this is gonna be a short post, considering we’re still plugging away at the RPM project. Quick update on that, we’re about 5 songs in for recording guitars, looking at about 7 songs total, but possibly more to be added in the next week. I may save some song ideas for after the skeletal release of Palanavra, just to give them time to be fleshed out and integrated into the concept that’s been developing over the last few weeks.

As always if ya dig the video then head over to the official YouTube Channel and give it a subscribe.
