Hey everyone! We’re back in full swing with the weekly uploads, and to start things off we’re gonna be ripping through some Skeletonwitch and their song, I Am of Death (Hell Has Arrived). I remember encountering these guys for the first time back in 2009, during a Children Of Bodom concert down in Toronto, at what used to be The Sound Academy. Pretty sure they were on tour with The Black Dahlia Murder. That was a killer show, and at the time I had no idea who Skeletonwitch was. Pretty sure they’ve since had a change in vocalist, but they still sound just as tight. Might do up another cover of one of their newer songs soon.
This song is short, but god damn is it a fast one. Not much lead work in this one, but it’s definitely a workout in speed and accuracy. Between the flurry of riffs and harmonizing chords, there’s quite a bit to focus on with this tune. Also the tabs I’ve been able to find for this song aren’t exactly accurate, so figuring out some of these riffs by ear was a bit of work. I might take the time some day and write out a proper tab for this song and post it online somewhere. Eventually I’ll be making a catalogue of all the tabs I’ve used to learn these songs and posting them on the website somewhere.
