Red Hot Chili Peppers – Tell Me Baby | BASS COVER

Alright everyone, I hope you’re ready for a bit of funk today, because we’re ripping through another Red Hot Chili Peppers cover on the bass! This time we’re running through the tune Tell Me Baby, a personal all-time favourite of pretty much all time. There’s something magnificently uplifting about this song, one can put it on at any time, no matter what bullshit they may have been dealing with, and just, feel better. It’s great.

There’s something about Flea that will always bring me back to this band, that bloody maniac. The madness of his slapping techniques is difficult to reproduce (especially his original style from way back in the 90’s), but I think I came, well, kinda close for this video. There’s only two real riffs in this song, but damn, that chorus is a difficult piece of work to say the least. Pretty sure I’m approaching it in a different way, I think Flea does a double slap on the lower two strings at points while I’m doing a slap 1, pop 2 kinda thing instead. I think it’s a cleaner tone that way, but that’s just me.

One of these day’s I’m gonna do a video on the tones I’m getting for these covers, because there’s something about this bass tone today that just funking slaps. (Pun fully fucking intended. Be one with the pun.) Everything has been in-the-box with the help of Overlouds TH-U, and of course I use Slate Digital plugins in the mixing realm, which definitely adds to the secret mixing sauce of the whole situation. I dunno, a tone video might pop up on this channel someday, maybe over at the Okzygen Studios channel. We’ll see what happens in the future.

Anyways, hope you dig the video today, and as always head over the the YouTube Channel and give it a subscribe to keep updated on all the new things!
