Children of Bodom – Kissing The Shadows | GUITAR COVER

Hey everyone! It’s another fine day in the studio, so I figured I should share another cover video. This time we’re taking on Kissing The Shadows, by one of my all time favourites, Children Of Bodom. Actually, I recorded this cover just a couple months after hearing the devastating news of Alexi Laiho’s passing back in 2021, as a sort of tribute to one of the greatest guitar players that has ever been. I’m still not over it, nor do I think I ever will be, but c’est la vie, and we must move forward.

This was one of the first videos I had done which incorporated multiple angles, using a wide shot for most of it then changing to a lower angle to focus on the fretboard during solos and the like. Since then I’ve been trying to make sure to capture at least two angles during every video to help make things more interesting. I always felt that watching a static single shot of someone playing through a song seemed boring, but at the same time it does help enforce the idea that everything was done in a single take. I’m still debating internally which method works best for the viewers, but I’m leaning towards the multi-angle stuff for the most part.

Hopefully you dig the video, and look forward to the next new upload on Friday!
