New Beginnings – Satriani Cover, YouTube and More…

Well hello there. It’s been a while. I’ve been a bit preoccupied with the dealings of life and the living, but it’s time to get back to work.

Over the next few weeks there’s going to be some changes on the site here, some trimming of the fat and streamlining of things to help accommodate a somewhat new direction in efforts. Hopefully this will also mean more regular updates as I’ll be shifting focus onto the YouTube channel for a while, with play-throughs of original songs, cover videos of some of my favourite tunes, as well as some other fun things here and there. There’s already been a few new things put up on the channel, so to start things off here’s a little cover video of Satch Boogie, by Joe Satriani!

It may not be the newest cover on the channel (actually getting on a year old now), but it’s definitely a fun one that started this personal movement of mine. I’ll be sneaking a few extra posts on the website here until we catch up with the actual update schedule, but expect a new video at least once a week! Currently videos drop on Fridays, but I might experiment with that a bit in the near future, especially if I can start pumping out more than one a week.

On the topic of new music, things have been churning away slowly on a few projects, including a new solo album that started production in 2021. Initially meant to be one of the entries into the annual Record Production Month challenge, things got a little out of hand and developed into a much more in-depth progressive project, encompassing styles like funk, ambient electronic, and doom metal into a full-fledged conceptual album about the contrivance of existence and purpose in an increasingly commodifiable world. Also, vocals are hard.

There’s still quite a bit of work left on this album as a whole, but a couple of songs are essentially finished (aside from redoing some vocal takes and a few solos here and there), so hopefully by the end of the year some of these tunes will see the light of day. Until then, you can expect another video this Friday!
