This song was one of the first full songs I had composed while working on my first album, The Right Questions. As you can hear, this was also back when I wasn’t doing too much experimenting with how the drums are laid out. I don’t think there’s a single ride hit in this song. The guitars are very crunchy as they were recorded directly in without any amp simulation, as this was before I cared about any of that stuff. For me, this album was purely about my ability to write songs.
